Description

The Glass Alchemy Amazon Bronze rod was created by Henry to mimic a Japanese ceramic glaze. It contains a high concentration of metals, giving it a unique and captivating character. This glass offers a beautiful range of metallic colors.

To work with Amazon Bronze, use a neutral flame at around 579°C (1075°F). You can also kiln it at this temperature. To achieve metallic effects, reduce the flame at the end of your work.

Artist Mike Shelbo explains that he works this glass in the neutral flame zone. This results in a deep reddish-brown tone. Then, by increasing the propane and flashing the piece in and out of the flame, a metallic surface appears. The reflections range from shiny copper to rainbow-like iridescence.

You can also kiln your finished piece multiple times between 560°C and 593°C (1040°F–1100°F). This creates a satin metallic finish with hues of blue, violet, cream, or green. These tones appear over a dense base of browns and reds.

Amazon Bronze looks stunning on its own, without encapsulation or a transparent layer. It adapts well to a variety of designs. This glass gives artists great freedom to explore vibrant metallic effects.

Use the Glass Alchemy Amazon Bronze rod to bring a unique and dynamic touch to your sculptures. Its rich colors and metallic highlights draw the eye. This glass is perfect for creations that play with light and texture.
