Description

The Glass Alchemy Beryl rod is a rare organic color in the borosilicate palette. It features a transparent brownish olive green inspired by nature. Its shade recalls the oil lamps and retro cruets of the 1960s. It is an excellent choice for creating elegant beads or subtle tints. It also works very well for sculptural pieces and solid glass work.

In blown creations, Beryl offers a beautiful visual presence. For larger pieces, it is recommended to work it in a “sandwich” between two clear layers. This method protects the color and preserves its depth. Beryl contains a high amount of copper. Without encasement, it can react to variations in propane and oxygen in the flame.

It is best to work Beryl at mid-distance or three-quarters of the flame length. A balanced gas mixture helps avoid unwanted reactions. A flame that is too reducing or too rich in propane can create surface effects. These reactions may add natural nuances but alter the original pure shade.

Beryl is easy to handle and behaves almost like clear glass. It suits both fine details and complex shapes perfectly. This color subtly captures and transmits light. For the best results, expose it to light to reveal its full beauty.

Beryl pairs well with many other Glass Alchemy shades, especially earthy tones and natural greens. Its color remains consistent after extended torch work and maintains stability in all flame atmospheres. Stable and reliable across various flame conditions, Beryl is versatile and elegant, enriching any palette with a natural, timeless touch.
