Description
The Glass Alchemy Peacock Chameleon rod is a unique Prussian blue. This blue features subtle nuances, positioned between the shades of Agua Azul and Twilight. Artists frequently use it for their sculptures. Its organic color gives it a natural and deep appearance. The base glass is dense and peacock blue. When blown or stretched under 2 mm thickness, it becomes milky and opalescent, creating an interesting visual effect.
To work with this glass, a neutral flame is required. Heat it to 975°F in the garage, then anneal at 1050°F. These temperatures ensure good durability.
Peacock Chameleon contains silver. This silver rises to the surface when working the glass with a standard flame, producing flashes, streaks, and veils of color. These reflections vary between light blue, green, and yellowish green.
Artist Mike Shelbo explains that this glass creates shimmering effects. By encapsulating it in clear glass, these effects are trapped, which also softens the color variations.
The result is a piece rich in nuances and depth. The Glass Alchemy Peacock Chameleon rod adds a lively and dynamic touch. This glass offers a beautiful play of light and color in every sculpture.
Artists appreciate its versatility and unique beauty.
