Northstar Goldenrod Rod

Description

The Northstar Goldenrod NS-84 rod is a bright, intense, opaque gold color. It has a dark, saturated yellow, perfect for unique creations. This glass is heat-sensitive, so it must be worked slowly. The key is not to heat it too quickly to avoid boiling. Use a soft, oxidizing flame without excessive aggressive heat.

To heat Goldenrod, start by passing the rod slowly through the upper part of the flame. This method ensures gentle and even heating. Then, you can bring it closer to the hotter part of the flame, but be careful not to overheat it. If you notice signs of boiling, immediately move the rod away. This technique preserves the color and prevents surface marks.

Goldenrod is ideal for fine stringer applications and light blown work. It works well for fine details due to its vibrant color. It handles heat well in a neutral flame, but avoid reducing flames that could alter the hue. You can also encase it in clear glass for extra protection, but it’s not necessary.

Another tip for achieving a beautiful effect is layering NS-013 Amber/Purple over Goldenrod. This combination creates a lovely depth, with golden and purple tones.

Although delicate, the Northstar Goldenrod rod can be easily worked when handled carefully. It is perfect for artists who want an intense color without compromising quality.
