The Northstar Forest Green NS-053 rod is a green, opaque, and highly saturated borosilicate glass. This versatile rod offers great flexibility in working. It withstands all flames without discoloration, although a neutral flame is recommended. This glass is suitable for encased applications, fine stringers, and blown pieces.

When working with heat-sensitive colors, caution is necessary. Colorants such as copper or cobalt have high boiling points. These metals can withstand aggressive heat without boiling. However, some metal oxides have low boiling points, making them more sensitive.

Northstar uses chemical processes to minimize boiling risks. However, it is still necessary to heat this glass carefully. To avoid surface marks, use a soft and cool flame. It is recommended to heat the rod slowly, moving it away from the intense heat source. This method ensures even heating and prevents overheating.

Sensitive colors should first be heated at the upper tip of the flame. Move the rod slowly and gradually. Once warmed, bring it closer to the torch head. If overheating occurs, pull the rod away from the intense flame. This technique prevents surface scarring and ensures quality work.
