Northstar Amber/Purple rod

Description

The Northstar NS-013 Amber/Purple rod captivates with its striking character in the borosilicate range. It is part of a unique series of five shades. Suitable for sculpture and moderately thin blown work, this color evolves depending on the flame.

This rod generates a varied palette, ranging from pale yellows to warm ambers to deep purples. To achieve the most intense purples, work in a hot, neutral, or slightly oxidizing flame. Conversely, reduction alters the color’s striking ability and changes the final result.

NS-026 Double Amber/Purple, a more intense version, produces exciting metallic purples and vermilions. While it behaves like NS-013 in the flame, its increased intensity requires more attention to avoid excessive reduction. This glass can be stretched further and blown thinly without losing its vibrant purple.

The Amber Purple color family fascinates with its varied effects. These shades embody the uniqueness of the striking colors in borosilicate glass.
